I started painting in 1998 when I was 16, Stevie - to the right of me above, was my 1st painting. My uncle passed away and left me his paint brushes about the same time I broke my back. Suddenly, with little mobility, I turned to the paint brushes and started really slow. Took me a month to do a small section of the guitar on Stevie, largely because I was using a tiny brush! Learned that larger brushes (and my fingers) make for quicker painting!
After many large black and white paintings, I eventually turned to color and almost immediately, a surrealist theme surfaced. I love how you can create a whole new feeling or emotion with surrealism and if you study many of the classical artists, they essential painted surreal paintings.
Travel is my best experience... every time I travel, I get inspired and come home with sketches for paintings.
I also work with balancing stones, I'm considered a master balancer. I also do a lot of public art, drawing, sculpture and other mediums.
